2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
4 eggs, unbeaten
4 c. flour
2 tsp soda
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp allspice
1 c. brown sugar
2 c. applesauce
1 c. dates
1 c. brazil nuts
1 c. small gum drops
1 c. raisins
1 tsp

Dissolve soda in applesauce. Mix ingredients in order in the regular way. Add dates and nuts as near whole as possible. Line loaf pans with wax paper. Place batter in bottom of pan and them drop the gumdrops, so they don t touch pan.Bake in moderate (350�F) oven about 45 minutes..
